Why should you perform a Pacemaker Device Check?
For patients who have required the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker to help ensure regular heart rhythm, periodic checks are necessary to make sure the device is working optimally.
What is a Pacemaker Assessment?
During the assessment a patient’s Pacemaker’s function is tested. The patient’s own underlying rhythm is also assessed.
What happens during a Pacemaker Assessment?
This test is performed by a specially trained Cardiac Technician who uses a computer to “talk” to the pacemaker wirelessly by placing a “programmer head” over the skin on top of the pacemaker.
How do I prepare for a Pacemaker Assessment?
There is no specific preparation for the Pacemaker Assessment.
- Adhesive electrodes may or may not be stuck on the skin for the attachment of ECG leads. 
- There are no dietary requirements. 
How long does a Pacemaker Assessment Test take to perform?
The Pacemaker Assessment test usually lasts 15-20 minutes in duration.
